Boladale emerges first SUG President from Political Science Dept

The Department of Political Science at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has produced Boladale Oyindamola Olamide as the first Students' Union President to emerge from the department.

Boladale, a 400-level student popularly known as Mandela, made history after the Students' Union Electoral Committee (SUEC) declared him as the president-elect in the 2023/2024 AAUASU election yesterday.

He led his opponent, Adeosun Oluwaseyifunmi Francis PKA Francofone from the Faculty of Law, with a simple majority vote of 694 over 520.

AAUASU 2024 Election: SOSSA Wins Top Offices, Makes History

The Faculty of Social Sciences at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, has made history by producing candidates who won the top offices in the Students' Union for the first time.

Three candidates from the faculty were openly declared as winners by the Students Union Election Committee (SUEC) In the 2023/2024 Students' Union election yesterday.

Boladale Oyindamola Olamide, popularly known as Mandela, a 400-level student from the Department of Political Science, emerged as the President and defeated his opponent with a total of 694 votes.

Adebayo Mayowa Peace, PKA Mayor, a 400-level student from the Department of Economics, won as the Vice President unopposed with 985 votes.

Oladele Sunday Adeniyi, PKA Sardkiss, a 400-level student from the Department of Sociology, also emerged as the General Secretary and defeated his opponent with 604 votes.

The new Faculty of Social Sciences was separated from the Faculty of Management Science in 2021.

AAUA DECIDES 2024: Mandela Wins With Simple Majority Vote

Boladale Oyindamola Olamide, popularly known as Mandela, has emerged as the President-elect of the Students' Union Government (SUG) of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State today.

Mandela, who is from the Department of Political Science, defeated his opponent, popularly known as Adeosun Oluwaseyifunmi Frances, known as Francophone, from the Faculty of Law, for the position of the Students' Union President.

Declaring him as the President-elect, the Students' Union Electoral Committee (SUEC) Chairman, Professor Olukayode Afolabi, said he satisfactorily proclaimed the highest number of votes.

Mandela polled 694 votes to defeat Francophone, who recorded 520 votes."

AAUADecides2024: SUEC Apologizes for Delay in Voting

The Chairman of the Student Union Electoral Committee (SUEC), Professor Olukayode Afolabi, has apologized to the candidates' agents for the technical issues encountered during the voting process.

Afolabi expressed this at the university's CBT centre where the election is being held.

He stated that the committee tested all gadgets yesterday and early this morning to ensure a smooth process, but encountered unexpected issues despite their preparations.

He further assured the candidates' agents that the election will resume and they will decide on the new time for its conclusion.

The chairman confirmed that accreditation will end by 4pm and voting by 4:30 pm.

Voting Will Continue Very Soon– SUEC Gen Sec

The 2023/2024 General Secretary of the Adekunle Ajasin University Students Union Electoral Committee (SUEC), Adesanmi Michael has said the election which is currently on hold will continue very soon.

Adesanmi in an interview with ECHO MEDIA stated that efforts are ongoing to resolve the technical issues.

"There is a current technical issue now and they are trying to fix it now so everything will come back to normal very soon," he said.

AAUA Decides 2024: Election is ongoing smoothly- SUEC

The Adekunle Ajasin University Students Union Electoral Committee General Secretary, Adesanmi Michael has confirmed that the election process is ongoing as expected.

Adesanmi disclosed this in an interview with Echo Media recently.

He stated that this counters the claim that the election is on the hold, stressing that issues are under control.
