The Ondo state owned varsity, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, has announced winners of the just concluded Students’ Union Election for the 20222/2023 academic session.
According to the results’ report which was made available to ECHO MEDIA, signed by the Chairman, Students Union Electoral Committee, (SUEC) Prof. Olukayode Afolabi, disclosed that the number of voters registered was 1861, while number of accredited voters and number of voters recorded were 760 and 759, respectively.
The report showed that Mayomi Adeboye Adekanye, politically known as INEC from the department of philosophy won the presidential seat with 423 votes, while his opponent, Micheal Dotun Fakaisi, politically known as WOLI MIKE, 400 level student of Mathematical sciences had 334 votes.
Also, the Vice President elect, Temitope Rotimi, politically known as Temmierose from the department of educational management, who was unopposed won 683 votes with simple majority.
Similarly, Oluwatosin Isaac Ojo, politically known as Apostle, a 400-level student of Microbiology who contested for the post of the General Secretary had 657 votes.
Ogundaisi Samuel Olatunbosun, popularly known as Peculiar Sam, a 300-level student of law won the Public Relations’ Officer position with 655 votes, while Taiwo Abraham Damilare, known as Capacity, from the department of Guidance & Counselling, emerged as the Financial Secretary with 644 votes.
For Joseph Adebowale Ajiki, popularly known as Debo from Business Administration, he was elected as the Treasurer by scoring 623, while Ariyo Adekunle Omole, a 500-level student of Fisheries & Aquaculture was elected the Welfare Director, as he scored 623 votes with simple majority.
The post of the social director with 3 candidates, finally had Nwaji Uche Fidelis popularly known as Fidelis Truth from Economics department as the winner with 317 votes, while Damilare Festus Iwamu, Dammylee from History & International Studies and Adewami Adebanji Joseph, Water Nation from Plant Science & Biotechnology scored 314 and 138 votes, respectively.
Also, Daramola Oluwatobi Olamide, a 400-level student of Human Kinetics, popularly known as, Jagaban, with 641 votes was elected the sport director while Ojo Cosmos Olayemi popularly known as King Billz, a 300-level student of Sociology, emerged as the Assistant General Secretary, with 646 votes.
While announcing the winners, Olukayode expressed his satisfaction over the free and fair election process, adding that the previous disqualification was based on the election guidelines stated in the constitution.
