Retraction On Our Story "AAUA Loses Fresh Graduate"

Following the report that was published by ECHO MEDIA (A long-serving media outlet in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko) on Saturday 6th May, 2023, about the death of a fresh graduate of Philosophy, Ogunleye Gbenga Moses; we write to retract the story and properly inform our readers and members of the public with the true information.

It is needful to say that we have pulled down the story from our website having noticed some false information in the build-up of the report.

According to subsequent findings, Gbenga (the victim) didn't die of any food-poisoning as indicated because no medical records confirmed that. Also, the cause of his death is not yet confirmed as Investigation is still going on, hence, the need to make an immediate retraction of the report.

In addition, we observed similar report by mainstream media platforms (with metropolitan and national spread), based on our findings, we wish to reiterate that investigation on the cause of the death is still ongoing and there is no strong link to food-poisoning as at the time of this retraction.

Our dear readers and members of the public, while we appreciate your trust for our media brand (within and outside the university community), we wish to categorically state and urge you to discard our earlier report linking the death of Gbenga Moses to food-poisoning.

We therefore appeal to the general public for any damage or defamation caused in the course of publishing the story, without due diligence to verification.

We also appeal to the University Management for any damage the story might have caused to the image and reputation of the university at this time; with a promise to always double-check and verify sensitive stories such as this in subsequent publications.

We take responsibility and we tender our apologies to any party who might have been one way or the other hurt or exposed to disreputation through our earlier report on the death of Gbenga Moses.

Thank you for believing in our content and we assure you of serving truthful reports, going forward.
