JUST IN! FEE SAGA:NANS Tells AAUA Students To Abide By No Reduction No Resumption

By: Our Reporter

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ondo State chapter has said that students of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko should disregard the resumption date announced by the school management and follow the No Reduction No Resumption Policy.

This was contained in a statement obtained by ECHO  which was signed by the NANS Ondo JCC Chairman, Comrade Adebowale Adewumi 'Rugged' on Friday afternoon.

Recall that ECHO reported the resumption date schedule as annouced by the authorities of AAUA on Thursday afternoon. The schedule stipulates June 9 as resumption date and June 17 for examination.

In his statement,  the NANS Chairman said:

"It is my delight to first appreciate the entire Nigerian Students, parents, market women, sympathizers, stakeholders and those who for whatever reasons joined us on this titanic struggle to save our educational institution."

"Unfortunately, time is no longer on our side especially as we have special challenge - our unwillingness to pull our resources and work together as students of the same institution without any designation as to who is from where; whether OSUSTECH, AAUA, FECA, ACOED etc"

He urged the students to disregard the circular by the management saying it is a way of distraction.

"2. Secondly, the second paragraph of the circular says that the student should resume on campus for the remaining part of the first semester on the 9th of June 2019. We urge our students to disregard this circular. The attitude of some of these managements gave us a focal sign that they are the enemies of now and the future to come as they are only trying to distract us."

Comrade Adewumi said the students will remain resolute in the decision of #No Reduction No Resumption.

He said: "We are confronted with the apparent inability of the authorities to adopt and implement meaningful solutions as we still stand on the policy of NO REDUCTION, NO RESUMPTION. In a lighter vein, we are currently appealing to the state government on the increment looking at it from the economic angle and the political and security implications."

He further maintained that all security agencies in the state are aware of all activities and the students have been laws abiding.

"I will also like to inform you that all security agencies across the state are officially carried along starting from the Director of State Security, the Commissioner of Police among others. This is necessitated by our orientation as law abiding citizens," NANS  Chairman maintained

He noted that "If we are not to turn our backs to our past blunders, then we must sincerely and diligently fight for qualitative education."

THE MEETING

Meanwhile,  a source revealed to ECHO that another meeting is being rescheduled for Monday 10th of January to discuss the review of the fee.

And also,  an update received from Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa revealed that the meeting which started around 3pm with the stakeholders was welcomed with different suggestions and  new decisions .

However, no circular has emanated from the AAUA Students Union in the last 24hours.
