FOCUS: AAUA Tuition Fee In The Past, Present And Future

On the reduction of school fee saga as earlier released by the AAUASU President, Com. Adesomoju Samuel (Sampraise) concerning the meeting held with the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, that the final resolution will be make in presence of Vice Chancellors and Governing councils of Adekunle Ajasin University and the Ondo State University of Science Technology.

Let take you back to the Press Release earlier released by the Management  of Adekunle Ajasin University as signed by  Opeoluwa Akinfemiwa, the Acting Registrar of AAAUA, concerning the increment in school fee and protest.

1. There is no new increase of school fees in AAUA (Which means the management  are vividly with the opinion  that not even a dime is or was added to the school fee)

2. Current school fees in AAUA range between N80,000 and N150,000.

3. The students are allowed to pay twice i.e. between N40,000 and N75,000 per semester. (An additional  advantage to ease payment)

4. The demand during the recent protest of students was for the University to allow those who have not paid their school fees to write tests/examinations while they pay their school fees later. (The student's union agitations and demand was against the reason for the protest)

For the avoidance of doubt, the schedule of school fees charged in AAUA, with effect from April 2018  range between N80,000 and N150,000 per year, depending on course or level of study.

The above figures were negotiated with relevant stakeholders, including the students and their parents, and finalized in April last year. (That is, the students, parents &  stakesholders had previously  agreed and concor to the payment without any doubt)

Lastly Management  of Adekunle Ajasin University said, "It is instructive to note that almost a session has passed since then and students have paid without any issue.

It is, therefore, surprising that some people (That is, the AAUASU Representatives) are now coming up with issue of reduction in school fees, an issue that was negotiated, agreed upon and finalized in 2018, a period of over a year ago.

Management is hereby urging members of the public to note that the school fees payable in Adekunle Ajasin University remain as negotiated with the students since April last year.

All lies, insinuations, and rumours contrary to the above stated facts should be ignored and discountenanced, please.

Adekunle Ajasin University  management however,  have already state their part on the above issue with clear and stable fact and evidences."

AAUA Pro-Chancellor, Dr Tunji Abayomi, on his page on Facebook posted also to state his stand on the issue to:

"Have you compared what is paid at AAUA to the other Higher Institutions in Sothern Nigeria even in State's that are manifestly poorer than our State. PLEASE DO. (He gave his own opinion   based on the fee payed by other institutions despite their low level of economy, yet they paid exorbitant fee to what is being paid in AAUA)."

"At AAUA with 50% of your Tuition paid you are allowed to register. You have the rest of the session to pay the balance. (This point was also argued for by the AAUA Management)."

"MEMBERS of the Disabled community ONLY have to pay 50% of the fees paid by the abled. In the case of extreme poverty NOT pretended poverty you can take a loan from the Student support Office."

"We have also established work study for those who are serious about finding solutions to their study money problem. We are doing our best to build a respectable Institution for Ondo State in a terribly challenging economic time for State government."

Dr Tunji Abayomi however stated all these but some questions need to be asked:

HOW WILL YOU RATE FULFILMENT OF THE INSTITUTION TOWARDS THE COMMUNIQUE/REQUESTS SUBMITTED BY OPTIMUM'S ADMINISTRATION LAST YEAR?

ADVICE/POSSIBLE WAY FORWARD FOR THE STUDENTS' UNION ON THE REDUCTION

NUCJ AAUA.
