The news of who becomes the next Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State is about to hit the media.
Recall that the post of the AAUA Vice-Chancellor has been in an acting capacity since the tenure expiration of Professor Igbekele Amos Ajibefun in January 2020.
Following the expiration of Professor Ajibefun, the then Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Olugbenga Ige was appointed in an acting capacity.
Up from January 2020 to June 2021, Professor Ige has been in acting capacity as the Vice-Chancellor of AAUA. His appointment have been extended three times by the Visitor of the institution, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN.
Also, recall that ECHO MEDIA reported how about 25 Professors were jostling for the AAUA top seat. It was revealed that some of the applicants are from the university while some are external.
In addition, recall that the screening process was halted due to some discrepancies surrounding the selection.
However, sources within the Senate told ECHO MEDIA that the interview has been conducted and the news of the new Vice-Chancellor of AAUA is what we all await. As at Saturday 19th June, 2021, we all await the news which will come anytime soon.
ECHO MEDIA is speculating, with all available information that the announcement will come on or before the end of June 2021- if there are no internal issues within the Senate.
It is worthy of note through our investigation that the Council will consider an 'inside person' as the next VC Instead of an 'outsider' but one cannot be certain of that will be upheld.
As at the time of the publishing piece, no announcement has been made.
