What is the primary purpose of establishing the AAUA Debate Club?
The primary purpose for the establishment of the AAUA Debate Club is to ensure that we have a platform that trains students on public speaking, debating, as well as public presentations. This will enable us to have people who can represent the school in any competition, just as we have it in all other institutions.
Who are the people eligible to join the Club?
As for the eligibility of the club, anybody can join in as much you are a bonafide student of Adekunle Ajasin University. It is opened to everybody, irrespective of your level.
In what way will this club contribute to the growth and development of the university and students at large?
One of the ways the club will contribute to the growth and development of the school and even the students at large is that it will help to build the confidence of students, project the school in good light to the outside community. When we go for competitions and we win, it gives the school recognition and the glory comes to the school. It is for us to build the students and build the school.
What are the aim and objectives of the club?
The aims and objectives of the club are to train students on public speaking and public presentation, to serve as a non-partisan and non-political group that will help to protect the name of the school in good light. One of our aims is also to ensure that we have a group of people with like-minds and are ready to serve a common purpose.
What is your advice to students who are not willing to join the club?
My candid advice to all students is that they should see this as an opportunity to build themselves, to develop, and to at least belong to a society that can help them grow. AAUA Debate Club has come to stay and it will continue to stay. Let them join and become a member. Thank you.
