The Students' Union Election Committee (SUEC), Adekunle Ajasin Varsity has postponed the SUG Elections due to the security situation of the country.
The electoral committee announced the postponement of the election till further notice early Saturday morning, just less than 90hrs to the election.
In an interview with ECHO MEDIA, the Chairman of the commitee, Dr. Stephen Aina, revealed that the decision to postpone it was to ensure a tension-free election.
He noted that the screening of aspirants was about to begin when the Vice-Chancellor sent a directive to make the move.
He said, "They just sent me a message from the Students' Affairs that the election should be postponed as a result of the tension in the country at the moment. Also, because so many other things are envisaged, the VC isn't comfortable holding an election next week.
"We were about to start the screening when we got the message. Nobody was in a high spirit when it came in. So, we had to dispatch them."
The election was earlier scheduled to hold on Wednesday, June 16th.
