Department Of Mass Communication, AAUA Prepares For 14th Press Week

The  National Association of Mass Communication Students, Adekunle Ajasin University Chapter, is set to hold her 14th annual press week. 

The one-week-long event is scheduled to hold from June 4 to 11, 2021.

The 2019/2020 press week is tagged, "Beyond Grades: Meeting demands of the media industry"

According to the President of the Association, Adesola Ikulajolu, the event will be another brace-up call to all students studying Mass Communication.

Ikulajolu emphasized the importance of the press week to both students and lecturers.

he said, "The 14th press week of  Department of Mass Communication is an annual event that brings together all members of the department. It will also make them learn the effective use of the media and explore the opportunities in the industry. It is also aimed at bridging the gap between the town and the gown (those in the academics and the professionals)." 

"The press week will bring together media organizations, veteran journalists, government officials, brand and communication managers, and them connect with the students and lecturers. We want to deepen the knowledge of the participants,” he added 

Moreover, students of the department have been grouped into teams for effective participation during the celebration.

The President stated, “The idea of the team lists is for the positive spirit of competition. All the activities during the press week will test the knowledge and passion of students. Hence, the teams will give everyone a sense of belonging.”

In an online interview with Echo Media, the Social Director of the Association,  Comrade Samson Akeju, revealed programmes lined up to celebrate the annual press week. 

He said, "On Monday, the old school day will come up. Tuesday is for praise night, cultural day, and movie show. Wednesday is set aside for a public lecture, where speakers from different walks of life will talk on the press week’s theme. Thursday is for indoor games, talent competition, NAMACOS exhibition. Lastly, Friday has been set aside mainly for dinner and award night.
