The Vice-President Editorial of Nigeria Union of Campus Journalists (NUCJ), Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Emmanuel Oluwadola, has advised campus journalists to be mindful of headline casting.
Oluwadola who doubled as the News Editor of Echo Media gave the admonition at the training for newly recruited members of the Union held in SOMASSA LTA4 yesterday.
At the training, the new members were trained on journalism and its ethics.
"Headlines word counts for beginners must not exceed 10 words and must be written in present tense. The use of articles in headlines is highly unprofessional and a headline should follow the Subject-verb format."
He further beseeched the new members to be meticulous and hard-working in order to build their names and reputation in society.
