A 400-Level Mass Communication student, Adebayo Benjamin, politically known as Benzzy, has emerged as the Speaker of the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMACOS), Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, chapter.
Speaking with ECHO MEDIA, Benjamin reiterated his commitment to transparency, which he described as the heart of any association to move forward.
Benzzy who was declared the winner at NAMACOS's first Congress held at the Mass Communication Relaxation Centre (MRC) said he will work hand in hand with the association's President and other executives.
He described his emergence as a miracle due to violence that almost marred the voting process.
His words: "I did not believe the so-called 'Cabal' would let me emerge in the first election. We[the other aspirant and I] had three votes each which resulted in an argument, but with the help of Mr. Ishola Lamidi, we were able to have a re-run election.
"At the re-run election, the outgoing Speaker cast his vote to have a winner.
"That was how I emerged. I give God the glory, as well as appreciate the Honourable that voted me in because I know it was not an easy task having an opponent that has supporters from the SUG level down to the department," he said.
