The President of the National Association of Mass Communication Students, Adekunle Ajasin University, Adesola Ikulajolu has urged members to bear with the department over the indefinite closure of its small gate.
Ikulajolu made this known on Wednesday during an interview with Echo Media.
The NAMACOS small gate has been a route for members and non-members of the department since the collapse of its fence two years ago.
Ikulajolu noted that the gate was opened since it was a direct access to the school's small gate. However, the opportunity was abused by outsiders.
According to him, the gate was locked to protect the department's properties, checkmate activities of outsiders, and avoid harassment of lecturers and students by other students.
He said, "If you check very well, our flowers are destroyed, many properties have been stolen and we can not allow that to continue "
While noting that it might not be easy for the Mass Communication students to pass through the department's main gate, he noted that, "It is a must to ensure we are safe and our properties are safe as well.
"I have been turning since 100 level and it is not a new thing. So, we all have to embrace the habit of turning" he said.
When asked when the small gate is going to be reopened, he said, "Until the Mass Communication students begin to act with security consciousness."
