The Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Ige, has warned new students to shun anybody's attempt to make them invest their tuition fees into Ponzi schemes.
The Don who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Dr. Francis Gbore stated this on Wednesday, while speaking at the 2019/2020 Freshers’ Orientation.
Noting, that the school has received reports of such act over time, he advised that students should be careful of any investment proposition that promises them double or unreasonable returns.
Also, the VC stated that the school operated an open-system, hence any academic and non-academic challenges should be duly reported to relevant quarters.
He stated "Once you have your school fees with you, don't listen to anyone who tells you to bring it to collect double in few days. We have had several cases of it, and the school will never be responsible for such. Pay your school fees as soon as you have it with you."
While giving an orientation lecture on the topic "Rules and Regulations Guiding Students and Channels of Communication in the University," the Registrar, Mr Oreoluwa Akinfewa advised the students to adhere to the rules and regulations of the university, as violations attract several penalties.
He further noted that the students must build good foundations academically and work towards graduating with excellent results.
"In class, we have the excellent students and average students. You can graduate with a first-class if you chose to. However, adhering the school rules and being dedicated will determine the success of your stay on campus.
"The result of your first examination determines the kind of foundation you have chosen to lay. Show good attitudes to your studies and you will graduate with excellent results."
On his part, the Acting Chief Security Officer, Mr. Seye Alademomi urged the new students to avoid joining any secret cult on campus.
He also stressed that no form of indecent dressing will be tolerated within the school.
"Some of the newly admitted students are seen dressed provocatively. They put on shorts, transparent clothes, revealing dressing and ripped trousers. The school authority is against this, and anyone found guilty will be sanctioned. As students, endeavor to always dress properly”
