Friday Omosola

Residents of Awoye in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo state, have began vacating their houses, over missing guns said to have been kept in the community by an armed robbery, last year December.

The vacation started on Wednesday when the military men invaded the community, after a tip-off that the community head had sold the guns to some thugs in the Local Government Area.

It could be recalled that the community's  Forward Base Military men last year attacked a gang of robbers, and rescued three white men , who were said to have been  kidnapped at the community seashore.

Speaking with one of the residents, who pleaded anonymity, he narrated that one of the arrested suspects by the Nigerian Army confessed recently that the guns were handed over to a man at Gbagira area of the community. The man  was perceived to be related to a king in the local government.

Also, he stated that since the development, the soldiers have began patrolling the community with three gun boats in search of the suspect and the guns.

According to him, this action has posed a threat to the lives of the residents of Awoye ,Mese and Gbagira communities, and made many families flee to the bush.

Another resident who spoke with us through a phone call, stated there was a tendency the action would affect some other communities in the local government.

He added that there was disruption of business activities in the area earlier today.
