The Social Sciences Students Association (SOSSA), has given a stern warning to the Students Electoral Committee (SUEC) of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) against secret reinstatement of disqualified aspirant for the forthcoming AAUASU Election.
In a statement signed by the Association President, Simon Sunday, SUEC should avoid reinstating Francis Adeosun (Francophone) an aspirant from the Faculty of Law vying for the position of AAUASU President.
Recall that ECHO MEDIA had earlier reported that Francophone and another aspirant, Adekunle Ahmed Folorunsho (Adekunle) vying for the position of AAUASU Welfare Director were disqualified on the ground of 'Security Clearance'.
SOSSA in her public request to SUEC and the University management stated that if Francophone was reinstated, then, Adekunle an aspirant from the faculty should also be cleared to contest.
The statement read: "Greetings and well wishes to the Chairman and every other members of the Students' Union Electoral Committee (SUEC), your hardwork is noticed and won't be overlooked.
"Without further ado, It is well known information on campus in recent days that two Students' Union Executive aspirants were publicly disqualified based on some records antagonizing their ability to contest for their political aspiration in the upcoming Students' Union election.
"Whereas, those affected aspirants are Folorunsho Adekunle from the Faculty of Social Sciences, and Francis Adeosun from the Faculty of Law who are also vying for the office of the Welfare Director and President respectively.
"However, A news has been in circulation in and outside the school campus regarding plans to overlook and privately sort out the issue of one of the affected aspirants.
"The spread of this news cannot be ignored and belittled as it seems very vital and should be treated with urgency because a rumor can eventually be a reality if it's well sorted.
"On this note, we humbly make a public request to the Students' Union Electoral Committee and the University management that if at all the S.U.E.C members are planning to reinstate the candidate from faculty of LAW in person of FRANCHOPHONE then the S.U.E.C should also reinstate the candidate from SOSSA in person of ADEKUNLE, if at all a pardon would be granted in this forthcoming hours.
"Finally, what is good for the goose is good for the gander" and everyone is expected to be treated equally under the law irrespective of Social, Financial, Political, or Economic status/influence."
