The current Sports Director of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Giwa Odunayo, popularly known as Giwanation, has stated that the faculty's Dean's Cup is geared towards developing youth talents.
In an interview with Echo Media, Giwa noted that the football competition serves as an avenue for young football talents in the faculty to demonstrate their skills.
Highlighting the qualifications for the tournament, he said all departments in the faculty are qualified to participate in the competition with 15 players and a coach, showcasing their talents to win the medal.
"The competition will serve as an avenue through which young talents would be discovered in football. Sports activities are important because they aid mental development and unity among youth," he said.
The Sports Director assured that the 2024 edition will take a new shape, stressing that a league format has been proposed in the form of a knockout tournament.
"SOSSA Dean's Cup this time around won't be the regular knockout as it used to be, to avoid complaints or excuses from teams," Giwa assured.
The tie will be between all the departments in the Faculty of Social Sciences, AAUA, which include Mass Communication, Criminology and Security Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Geography and Planning Science, Sociology, and Economics.
