The Students representative council of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko has issued three days ultimatum for the student's executive council for the provision of the union account statement.
This was contained in a press release dated 22nd of October, 2021 signed by the senate president Rt Hon. Sen. Adeleke Rasheed, disseminated by the Aauasu Src Clerk Comrade Folorunsho Ahmed Adekunle.
The release read, "The Students' Union is a body of intellectual and radical students, established with the cardinal purposes of championing the interests and welfare of the students, as well as protecting their rights within and outside the university community.
"We write to inform you and other concerned executives of the boiling need to provide the statement of account of AAUASU within Three (3) working days with effect from Monday, 25th of October 2021 till Wednesday 27th of October 2021."
The release added that failure to provide the statement of account of the AAUASU within the stipulated time shall invite the wrath of the constitution and necessary actions from the Students Representative Council in accordance and conformity with the provisions of the AAUASU constitution shall follow.
"Let it be known that all transactions about the withdrawal of funds from the Students Union Account are hereby suspended until The Statement Of Account Of The Students’ Union is received by The Students Representatives Council. "
Earlier before the release on the 22nd of October, 2021, the SRC had on 19th of October, 2021 distance itself from the embezzlement news going viral online through a release signed by the senate president Rt Hon. Sen. Adeleke Rasheed, disseminated by the Aauasu Src Clerk Comrade Folorunsho Ahmed Adekunle.
"The attention of The Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko’ Student Union(AAUASU)’ Students Representative Council Under The leadership of Comr. Adele Rasheed O. (Aremo Royal) has been drawn to the viral disheartening news on social media and all other platforms on the “Alleged Embezzlement and Misappropriation of funds” in the Students Union.
The Students Representative Council of the Students Union is committed to protecting her image and bringing about justice and upholding the principles of checks and balances in conformity with the provisions of the Students Union constitution.
The Students Representatives Council of the Student Union shall summon all the perpetrators involved in this act which is defamatory, and liable for shattering and piercing the reputation and integrity of the Students Union.
We hereby beseech the students and the general public to have strong faith in the AAUASU’ Students Representatives Council as necessary actions will be taken as soon as possible."
Re: Letter Of Ultimatum For The Provision Of Aauasu Statement Of Account
However, a new release by the Students Executive Council dated 22nd of October, 2021, signed by the president, Comrade Ogunsanmi Kolade popularly known as Multiple; disseminated by the general secretary, Comrade Adeyefa Tolulope(Elite) debunked the rumor tagging the SEC body for the provision of a statement of account.
It read, "The members of the Students' Executive Council(SEC), under the leadership of Comrade Ogunsanmi Kolade, have read with utmost disdain the letter published on various WhatsApp platforms from the office of the AAUASU Senate President, Sen. Rasheed O. Adeleke and addressed to Students' Union President, Comr. Ogunsanmi Kolade, with the above subject, referred.
We want to put to the notice of the Senate President, and that of the public who might be misinformed, that the current administration under Comrade Ogunsanmi Kolade is yet to operate or carry out any transactions with the Students' Union account due to delay in the change of signatories to the Union account which is also as a result of the unavailability of the former signatories."
However, in the release, the Students' Executive Council in her meeting held on the 22nd October 2021 resolved to ensure that processes to the changing of signatories to the Union account Are to be carried out no later than Monday, 25th October 2021, stating that the three former executives(President, Financial Secretary, and Treasurer) bearing signatories to the account has been summoned to vet their signatures on or before the set date.
"Nevertheless, we count it as an aberration on the part of the Senate President to write the President of the Union, Comrade Ogunsanmi Kolade in a manner that paints him(Multiple) and other SEC members in a bad way. We want to believe that the Senate President, Sen. Aremo Royal, understands protocols and is expected to write officially to the union with proper consultations when the occasion arises, rather than writing on WhatsApp platforms."
Furthermore, reiterated that the president nor any members of the Students' Executive Council(SEC) will not take to the request of the letter from the leadership of the Students' Representative Council(SRC).
Finally, the release encouraged all AAUAites to remain firm in their trust with the leadership of Comrade Ogunsanmi Kolade(Multiple), as the administration will ensure transparency and accountability in the union, as well as maintaining a cordial relationship with other arms of the union as we are all working together for the betterment of the union.
Also in another release signed by the President, Comrade Kolade Olumide Multiple, disseminated by his Media Aide Komolafe Olaleye A (Jekanmo) described the release as a fallacy capable of misinforming the entire student's populace.
It read, "Sequel to the letter earlier relayed through the office of the Senate President, requesting for the release of the AAUASU statement of account, it has now become imperative to note and indeed, emphatically that the student union executive under the leadership of Comrade Kolade Olumide Multiple is yet to have access to the aforementioned account, owing to the unreachability of some executive members of the past administration who are signatories to the union account.
It is indeed, given this development that it has become palpably impossible to produce a statement of account as no one, not even this current administration, knows what is currently obtainable in the said account as at this minute."
It added that although, all substantial efforts geared by the office of the President to ensure that the concerned executive members of the past administration do the needful had been unfruitful, the President wishes to assure all AAUIATES that more drastic measures will be put in place in no distant time to ensure that they are reached and made to do the necessities for the immediate access of the account.
More so, the release urged All AAUIATES to debunk the ravaging speculation that the student union under the leadership of Comrade Kolade Olumide (Multiple) refused the release of the statement of account and be reminded that the office of the President is always and ever committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in all activities of the union
