The students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, have expressed grievances over the absence of the Students' Union Government executives, and the arrest of students at a protest today.

The protest tagged "SAY NO TO HEAVY TRUCK IN AKUNGBA", was staged by students against the movement of heavy-duty trucks through the Akungba road.

ECHO MEDIA gathered that none of the SUG executives, including the President, Comrade Oluwasegun Obagunwa, was present for the protest.

Also, men of the Nigeria Armed Forces stormed the protest ground and arrested 13 students.

The soldiers alleged that the police officers at the scene called for the protesters' arrest, after accusing them of blocking the road.

At the time of filing this report, the students arrested have been released.

Also, many have described Supreme as the worst SUG President in the history of Adekunle Ajasin University.

However, the students praised the Immediate Past President, Late Adesomoju Sampraise, for leading the agitations on the reduction of tuition fee after it was hiked by the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu in 2018.

A student said, "We miss our hero and regret having a mediocre as the current No 1 student of AAUA."

In an interview with the Dean of Students' Affairs, Dr. Olusegun Owolewa, he noted that the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olugbenga Ige has promised to take necessary actions on the agitations of students.

He added, "The Ondo State Government has promised to dualize the road."
