The Federal Government (FG) has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday to mark this year Workers’ Day.
This was announced on Tuesday in a statement issued by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who emphasized the importance of peace in fostering industrialization and economic growth.
Praising Nigerian workers for their dedication and sacrifice, Tunji-Ojo noted that their contributions remain central to the country's progress and its standing among nations.
“There is dignity in labour, the dedication and commitment to our work are vital to nation-building” he said.
The minister urged workers to embrace innovation and enhance productivity in their various fields. He also encouraged them to raise professional standards to contribute to better governance and ensure that all Nigerians benefit from the country's resources.
Reassuring the government’s commitment to security, Tunji-Ojo promised citizens and foreigners alike of the administration’s efforts to protect lives and property.
As workers prepare to celebrate the occasion, the minister beaconed on Nigerians to remain hopeful, reiterating President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to the "Renewed Hope Agenda"
