AAUASU Election: SUEC Qualifies 15 Aspirants, Disqualifies Two

Ahead of the 2023/2024 Adekunle Ajasin University Students' Union election, the Students' Union Electoral Committee (SUEC) has qualified 15 aspirants out of 17.

The screening result was revealed in a document signed by AAUA SUEC Chairman, Prof. Olukayode Afolabi, today.

The aspirants were screened based on criteria such as academic performance, security clearance, and departmental standings.

Vying for the post of president, Oyindamola Olamide Boladale, known as (Mandela) from the Department of Political Science, with a CGPA of 2.60, and Oluwaseyifunmi Francis Adeosun, (Francofone) from the Law Department, with a CGPA of 3.20, qualified and had cleared security status.

Blessing Olayinka Asagunla, known as (Gbotemie) from the Department of Public Administration, and Ibrahim AbdulBasit Opeyemi, known as (Yembex) from the Adult Education Department faced disqualification for the posts of Vice-President and Social Director, respectively, due to a CGPA below the stipulated minimum requirement of 2.50.

Other qualified candidates include Adeboye Mayowa Peace (Mayor) for Vice-President; Bakare Jamiu Abiodun (Unique) for General Secretary; and Oladele Sunday Adeniyi (Sardkiss) for General Secretary.

Olaobaju Fikayo Femi (Olapaid) for Social Director; Kayode Ayomide Anthony (Ayomiposi) for Financial Secretary; Olayemi Temitope Iyanuoluwa (Olahtem) for Treasurer; Ariyo Atinuke Elizabeth (Lizzie Ella) for Treasurer; Odebola Samson Oluwatimileyin (Samsoniah) for Welfare Director; Akinsulu Praise Oluwatimilehin (Zulu) for Sports Director.

Ogunyemi, Deborah Okikiolamiposi (Kiki) for Assistant General Secretary; Adebanjo David Iyanuoluwa (Dodo F) for Assistant General Secretary; Olaogbebikan Noble Emmanuel (Hemmyraid) for Public Relations Officer; And Jenty Henry Timmibra (Jenty) for Public Relations Officer.

As the countdown to election day begins, anticipation mounts, promising a dynamic and spirited race towards shaping the future leadership of the student union for the upcoming academic session.
