Students Affairs: Creation of Off Campus Unit

The students affairs unit, in a chat with Echo correspondent stated that the students affairs unit is making frantic efforts towards ensuring that students living off campus are well catered for, this he said will be facilitated, through the creation of an Off Campus Unit. Dr Bolanle Ogungbamila stated that, although the Off Campus Unit is not yet created, nevertheless the students affairs unit is hopeful that the school management will approve this idea.

During the course of the interview, He further stated that the sole objectives of the Off Campus Unit of the Students affairs is to know the exact number of students living outside the School premises, to have a documented records of their hostels, in order to monitor them, and most importantly their living conditions, most campus on campus he said, are not suitable for living, most do not have toilets, bathrooms, while others are dilapidated.
He said most landlords and house agents are giving students tough time, and unnecessary extortions are been made.

The Creation of an Off Campus Unit, He believed will help look into cases related to students living outside the school premises,  Citing an example of the Shanghai Hostel incident, which led to the death of Olumuyiwa Ewaworin, a 400Level student of Psychology, he said, if the student affairs unit had with them the off campus records of students, it would have been easy for them to adequately look into the issue, and meet relevant quaters.

The School Management is students friendly, thus this consciousness has necessitated the need for an Off Campus Unit of the students affairs.
