- kind-hearted Aauaites donate
- Over 30 donors recorded
The AAUA campus on Wednesday, 24 February welcomed a blood donation body called " National Blood Transfusion service, Ado-Ekiti", Echo Newspaper learnt.
The blood donation initiative who was sponsored by United States of America and Save Blood For Africa, came all the way from Ado-Ekiti, the body according to the Head of Recruiters, Mr. Bello started business in 2008, and they have unarguably changed lives with the programme the initiative offers for humanity.
During the interview section with Echo Newspaper, Mr. Bello also said, "I think the reason why the school authorities gave us this opportunity is that they know that blood donation processes is an important and centralized something, if a person donates blood here in AAUA, the user of the blood may be Lagos State University and his or her life will be saved".
"People do not donate blood anyhow, the ladies donate four times a month, while men donate three times month, thanks to Mr. ikoku, the CMB for the health centre and the Dean of student Affairs for giving in this opportunity and we normally conduct tests to check the blood level of those who want to donate because too much of blood in the body has side effects and it endangers the heart. Those people who need this blood are pregnant women, accident victims, people suffering anaemia", Mr bello added.
When the head of internal recruiter was asked about the challenges faced by the organization,he said that the major challenge is that students are still thinking of run recompense in the transfusion, the young man stated that some students expect big compensation and not a bottle of malt drink that they used to entertain the donors, but the initiative as at the time of the interview had recorded almost 30 donors.
Kind hearted Aauaites found it requisite participating in the exercise, when one of the donors, Linus, was interviewed, he said, " The reason why I have it in mind to donate my blood is that I am a kind hearted guy, and I love saving lives, it is not that they will give me anything (money) but I just love to help those who need my assistance". Another donor, Adeniyi Rotimi David, a 100 level student in the Department of linguistics said, " I just love saving lives, when I got to the attendant, he said in normal ground, i should have 11.5 amount of blood in my body, but I had 16.9, so there is no reason why I should not save life by donating blood"
The blood transfusion programme which was exercised at the front veranda of Olusegun Obasanjo multipurpose hall is only two day, but the passionate attendants of the blood transfusion initiative are looking up to attending to as many donors as possible.
