The management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, as a public holiday in observance of the 2025 Workers' Day celebration, in line with national festivities.

This was stated in an official circular issued on April 30, 2025, by the Registrar, Mr. Olugbenga Arajulu, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga E. Ige.

According to the statement, all members of staff and students were informed of the closure of the University on May 1 in line with the Federal Government’s declaration.

Additionally, the statement clarified that the University would not carry out official duties on the day, "except for staff on essential duties."

The closure is in recognition of Workers’ Day, a day set aside annually to honour the contributions of workers to national development.

Members of the University community were further advised that regular academic and administrative activities would resume on Friday, May 2, 2025.

The Vice Chancellor extended his warm wishes to all members of staff and students for "a peaceful and pleasant Workers’ Day celebration."
