Final year students of Mass Communication at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, have celebrated Valentine's Day in grand style in a bid to learn how to express love to clients as upcoming Public Relations and Advertising practitioners.
The students, grouped in fives, staged a mini-friendly presentation earlier today, organized by one of the lecturers of the department, Dr. Mrs. Shade Ade-Johnson.
Speaking with ECHO MEDIA, some of the students saw the Valentine presentation as a way of learning to solve impending crises as PRAD students, while others viewed it as a sustainable effort to spread love.
Reacting, one of the participants, Irene Maka, said the presentation aimed to hone their skills in making their clients feel loved irrespective of who they are or where they come from.
"It's not every day you get to do something like this. Irrespective of who you are or what you're wearing, you deserve to be loved. The theme for my group is 'Everybody Deserves Love.'"
Another student, Ojo Oluseye, emphasized that the inspiration behind his group's presentation was to share love and make their prospective clients feel welcome.
He added that Valentine's Day is a moment to celebrate and express genuine love to people in one's way.
In her view, Vera Akinbobola emphasized that the presentation had helped educate them more on how to relate to their clients, adding that the idea stemmed from one of their courses.
"This event is related to one of our courses of study for the semester - MAC 443 International Public Relations. We are learning and also having fun at the same time," she said.
A student from the Afrocentric Valentine Group, Awojobi Oluwatimilehin, stated that each group aimed at spreading love through various brands and public relations strategies. "When we love now, we live more."
After the presentation, the National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMACOS) AAUA chapter also hosted a Valentine's party, which featured an ultimate search game, eating competitions, music, and dance, among other activities.
