We Are Not Quiet On Justice For The Vulnerable - NAWOJ Ondo State

...As NUCJ AAUA pay courtesy visit

The Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ondo State has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that measures are being put in place to ensure justice prevails for any wrong doing in the society, especially on issues that have to do with females and women.

This assurance  was given by the Ondo State NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs. Doris Olumoko yesterday, Wednesday, 7th of August, 2019, during a courtesy visit to the Association in Akure, by the executive members of the Nigeria Union of Campus Journalists, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (NUCJ AAUA), Ondo State.

Mrs. Doris Olumoko in her address noted that the Association is always ready and committed to defend and fight for the cause of women in the society, regardless of the age or academic standard.

The assertion of the NAWOJ chairperson came after Mr. Olufemi Damilola, President of NUCJ AAUA, presented the rape case of one the students of Adekunle Ajasin University who was allegedly raped by one of the military personnel along Akungba-Ikare road in Ondo State.

The President explained that the visit was to bring to the notice of NAWOJ, the illegal act and also spur them to assist with the case.

He said "Although, NAWOJ has learnt about and the AAUA management has set up a committee to investigate the matter, this visit is to quicken and get the Association notified about the barbaric act in other to let justice prevail".

It could be recalled that, a 300-level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, was raped within the Akungba-Ikare axis few days ago.

The President of NUCJ AAUA however noted that training of NUCJ AAUA members by superior authority and professionals is very important and imperative at this time daily technological advancement.

Reacting, Mrs. Olumoko gave her  support and readiness to work with NUCJ AAUA Chapter in training and getting the students aligned with modern day journalism.

The NAWOJ Chairperson and her executive members however appreciated the NUCJ AAUA for the visit which ended with a group photograph and presentation of art painting to NAWOJ Ondo State Chapter by NUCJ AAUA.
