The Department of Library and Information Science (LIS) at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, has honoured the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, with an Award of Gratitude and named him Grand Patron of the department.
The honour was given during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor on Tuesday. The award was in recognition of his leadership, support, and commitment to the growth of the department and the university.
The event was led by the National Association of Library and Information Science Students (NALISS), under the leadership of Comr. Ogunsola Ifeoluwa-Dada, popularly known as Mr. Log, with academic staff of the department.
In his remarks, the Head of Department, Dr. Omotoyinbo D.W., described the recent approval and progress of the department as a major achievement.
Also, he thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his role in supporting the department and promised that the department would continue to strive for excellence.
In his response, Prof. Ige thanked the department and the students for the honour. He praised them for their effort and assured them of his continued support for academic development.
Others present at the event included the Staff Adviser, Mr. Adeniyi J.T., Mr. Kehinde Adeosun, members of the departmental executive council, and representatives of the Student Union. Among them were the SU President, Comr. Salami Akeem Ologbon; his Chief of Staff, Comr. Adetunji Ayooluwatomiwa Festus (Asiwaju); and Comr. Oluwanishola Ajibola (General Aji).
