The Adekunle Ajasin University Student Union Sports Director, Comrade Adelowo Adebayo, known as Lovebayor, has described the Luminaries qualification into the next round of the ongoing Higher Institutions Football League (HIFL) as a good success.
Lovebayor stated this yesterday during an online interview with our correspondent.
The University's football team had yesterday confirmed their place in the top four after beating Niger Delta University 2-1.
The game played saw Adekimoye Omotayo of the Faculty of Law score two goals that made the Luminaries score 6 points.
According to Lovebayor, the team came out in good spirit to win the crucial match and to qualify, after being defeated by FUPRE in their third match.
He said, "Even though we ought to have qualified with our third match, we still came out from our defeat to win the big match against the Niger Delta University (NDU). Sometimes in football, we win, and sometimes we lose. However, we are so grateful because he gave us winning ahead of our opponent yesterday, and we qualified."
"We hope to learn from our defeat and forge ahead to make our citadel proud by winning the league and bringing the glory to our dear institution."
He urged fans home and abroad to keep supporting and praying for the Luminaries as the competition continues.
Lovebayor said, "We urge our fans home and abroad to keep believing in, and supporting AAUA Luminaries because united we stand and divided we fall. Your support is all we need, and I pray that God will give us more strength to forge ahead and achieve great success in this tournament."
He added, "I want to praise the team, AAUA Luminaries, for taking up the mantle on themselves to win this match. I'm really happy about the win and the whole team is in a happy mood right now."
