This was made known in a press release signed by the SUG President, Comrade Olusegun Obagunwa today.

The Association of Motorists had last week increased bike fares from N50 to between N100 and N150.

The press release reads "Sequel to the issue of motorcyclists in Akungba community, the Students’ Union had a proper meeting today Monday, February 22nd, 2021 with the king of the community, HRM Oba Isaac Sunday Adeyeye Ajimo III (The Alale of Akungba), the Nigeria Police force led by CSP A. Ajibola, the leadership of the Bike riders association led by their chairmen; Mr. Olamidotun Awojupe and Mr. Aderopo Adeogun, the Motorcyclists association state representative Led by Mr. Damillola Olukoju and the Community Youth Forum Leaders.

"The meeting was mainly focused on the purported hike in bike fees from the normal price to #100 - 150naira and other sacrosanct issues.

"After so much deliberation and discussion, it was agreed and instructed that the price for the bike fees should remain normal as it was before which is #50naira only, however, any further addition depends on the distance and which must be reasonably agreed by both the motorcyclists and the passenger which takes an immediate effect from now on."

It further stated that there are ongoing plans by all sectors to ensure that there are proper profiling and identification of all motorcyclists in order to curb their excesses.

However, students were enjoined not to ever board any motorcycle that goes against the stipulated agreement and order above, as any scapegoat would be treated as a criminal under the law.

He stated, "To cap it all, We make bold to reiterate that the Students’ Union under the hegemony of Comrade Obagunwa Oluwasegun(SUPREME) wouldn't tolerate any attempt to infringe the Welfare of the vast Nigerian students from any quarter,"
