Glorious Emoruwa, Clarion Olusegun

The Adekunle Ajain University Student Union Government has assured students of its efforts to prevent further accidents that would affect them.

The President, Comrade Olusegun Obagunwa stated on Thursday during a radio interview on Crest 87.7 FM.

According to him, the Student Union had met with the school and three resolutions were made to ensure the safety of students.

Comrade Obagunwa revealed that the school main gate will be permanently shut down and the major entrance into the school premises would be moved to the school area called "permanent site."

He added, "There will be another alternative route, that is a particular place called Akuwa. The road leads to the school's permanent site. So, the road will be tiled by next week and there will be shuttles around that junction. The road will become the permanent route because it is still the safest route for now and shuttles will be made available there to take the students to the permanent site. This is to help divert students from the areas where these accidents happen."

Moreover, he noted that 3 organizations have shown interest to build hostel facilities in the school.

He explained, "The first one is the NCBC hostel that can accommodate over 5000 students, while the other hostel is the hostel that can accommodate about 2000 students. The project will commence next week. This is to bring the students back to the school campus away from the community to avoid further incidents."

The SUG President also noted the plan to build a "Mammy Market" for the use of students within the school.

Speaking on the treatment of students affected by the two accidents that happened last Saturday, he said that the Ondo State government has intervened in fundraising, and also, funds raised by students and philanthropists are currently spent on the medical bills of victims.
